STEP 1: WATCH THE VIRTUAL CLASS VIDEO AND TAKE NOTES

Make sure to note the following:

You can translate simple percent problems if you know a few important phrases:

Percent: divided by 100
Is: equals
Of: times
For an unknown number, use a variable, like x

For example, after doing the division implied by the percent sign, "What is 30% of 40" translates to x = .3(40) and "18 is 20% of what" translates to 18 = 0.2x.
